One of the first things you see in Honduras is trash. Bright colored chip bags account for much of the refuse. The average Honduran eats 2 bags of chips a day - this is part of the culture. There are few public trash cans so garbage is often times littered or burned.Basura Bags, literally meaning "trash bags", are a classic example of a problem becoming a solution, a resource rescued from waste, addressing multiple issues such as; helping to clean up the island environment and offering a way to earn a living while creating fashionable art.
